Central Europe Trip

Trip to Central Europe was planned since last year. The trip was cancelled in 1211 because 4 members withdrew at the last minute. But this year though there were last minute cancellation, DHIA Holidays still proceeded with the plan with 6 members, all senior ladies but there was no guide to accompany us. We traveled on our own with DHIA Hols arranged the scheduled visits with local European guide. Since I have some experience traveling unaccompanied by a tour leader, Izan requested that I lead the group. I told her I would help but everyone played a leadership role in this trip. But unfortunately when something went wrong, I became the scapegoat and was blamed - very irresponsible attitude. Our trip was  scheduled from 5 to 17 May 2012 by Qatar Airways but because Qatar Airways delayed the flight, Izan worked out that we traveled by Emirates leaving KLIA at 2 am on 6 May. We lost about half a day but I think traveling by Emirates is much better than by Qatar Airways.
Our German guide was Detlef Guske who drove a Mercedes van to take us around our route. I think this is a very interesting route to take, scenic with history. There were no border checks except entering Osijek in Croatia. We were made to wait over an hour with unfriendly faces and attitude, a country I would not like to visit again. Osijek is such a run down place, unattractive, depressing and poor. Fortunately the western side of Croatia which we visited especially Plitvice Jazera National Park and the capital, Zagreb are beautiful with friendly people.
Countries we passed and stopped - Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzagovina, Slovania and Austria. We had a great time.
